Student volunteers

The local organising committee (LOC) is looking, together with SETAC Europe, for students (preferably from Glasgow) wanting to assist on site during the SETAC Europe 23rd Annual Meeting.

Assistance activities include practical assistance in session rooms (microphone, light, computer, projection, etc.), meeting rooms, delegate registrations, cyber café, bookshop, back office, IT facilities, presentation upload/download, signposting; during poster sessions and social events.

Candidates should preferably meet the following criteria:

  • have affinity with the field of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry;
  • be continuously available for 12 hours/day in the period between Saturday 12 and Thursday 16 May (main activities between 7:00 - 19:00, occasionally also in the evening);
  • master the English language;
  • have a cooperative and respectable attitude;
  • if they have submitted an abstract and they will present at the meeting, this will be taken into account when planning their work schedule;
  • if they have helped (efficiently) in previous SETAC annual meetings, this would also be taken into account positively during the selection procedure.

Conference assistants will receive the following compensation for their activities:

  • Free conference registration for the annual meeting in Glasgow in 2013 AND in Basel in 2014
  • One year free membership of SETAC
  • Free ticket for the student party
  • Free accommodation in shared double rooms for students from outside Glasgow
  • An exciting time in an inspiring environment!

SETAC is looking for approximately 30 good students. Please, take note that, if we receive a high number of candidates, we may need to make a selection based on references/recommendations. Note the job is hard but there is enough time for an active participation at the meeting.

If you are interested in volunteering at the SETAC Europe 23rd Annual Meeting, please send your name, CV, motivation letter and picture, to serve as a student helper in the conference (including if you are planning to present an abstract) directly to SETAC.

Important:

  • Applications should be sent to SETAC Europe before 31 January 2013
  • Applicants will be informed 15 February 2013
